Your first week on Bet2Invest
A realistic seven-day plan: read the leaderboard, build and backtest a first draft, hit the free-tier wall, pick a plan, then activate your strategy and follow a few others.
Day 1: learn to read the leaderboard
You can spend your first day on Bet2Invest without paying a cent. The public leaderboard on the home page is open to everyone, and it is where everything else starts, so that is where you start too.
Every public strategy on it carries a rating from 0 to 100. That number is a composite of four sub-scores: performance, reliability, drawdown and freshness. It summarises how the strategy has behaved so far. It does not predict what it will do next.
The rating matters less than knowing which numbers sit underneath it. Stats come in two scopes. Since shared counts only the real picks fired after the strategy went live. Overall adds the backtest on top. The leaderboard ranks on since-shared stats by default, for a simple reason: a backtest can be tuned after the fact, a live record cannot. So a strategy with dazzling overall figures and a handful of live bets has not been tested yet, whatever its curve looks like. Always check which scope you are reading before you trust a number. You will need that reflex again on day seven, when the strategy on the screen is your own.
Day 2: pick strategies apart
Now go deeper on two or three strategies that caught your eye. Open their pages and try to work out why they win, or at least why their creator believes they do. Look at the sport and the market, the average odds, the yield (profit divided by total amount staked), the max drawdown (the worst losing stretch in the record), and the number of bets behind those stats.
Without a plan you can open up to 10 settled picks per strategy. That is enough to see what a pick really is: a matchup, a market, a side, and the odds at the moment of detection. Write down the strategies you would want to follow once you subscribe. Following a strategy and receiving its picks requires an active plan, so today is research. Commitment comes later.
Days 3 and 4: build a first draft
Time to switch from reading to building. Open the Strategy Builder and create a draft. Drafts cost nothing: you can create, edit and backtest them without a plan.
Choose one sport and one bet selection, say moneyline on the home team. Then resist the urge to add filters. Two Explorer-tier filters are plenty for a first attempt:
- Odds range: keep only the bets where the Pinnacle price sits inside a band you choose, for example between 1.50 and 2.20 in decimal odds.
- League: restrict the strategy to competitions you actually know something about.
The canvas saves itself as you work, so nothing is lost between sessions. When the rules look right, run a backtest. Without a plan, the window covers the most recent 183 days, about six months, and the platform applies that limit quietly rather than showing an error. Six months of real Pinnacle data is a decent first look, even if it is too short for firm conclusions.
Day 5: read the results, and distrust yourself
Give the backtest a full day before you touch anything. The stats assume a flat one-unit stake on every bet, priced at the closing odds by default (or at the opening odds when the backtest settings say so). Look at the total number of bets first, because on a small sample every other figure means little. Then read the win rate, the average odds, the yield and the max drawdown, and ask the honest question: could you sit through that drawdown with real money on the line?
If the results disappoint, you will want to nudge the filters until the profit curve looks good. This is the trap most beginners walk into. Each tweak made only to improve past results makes the strategy better at describing history and worse at predicting anything, a problem known as overfitting. Change a filter only when you can explain, in plain words, why it should matter for future matches.
Day 6: hitting the wall, choosing a plan
Somewhere on day six, the free tier runs out. You can backtest a draft as often as you like, but saving and activating it, which is what makes live detection watch upcoming matches and send you picks, requires an active plan. So does following other people's strategies.
Plans differ in monthly picks, strategy slots, backtest window length and the filter tiers you can use. The current prices and quotas live on the plans page, so compare them there instead of guessing. Someone who mostly wants to follow others does not need the same plan as someone who wants to run several strategies of their own.
Day 7: activate, follow, let it run
With a plan active, save and activate your draft. From now on, detection scans upcoming matchups, always before the match starts and never in-play, and sends you a pick whenever all your conditions match. Live picks are recorded at the odds seen at detection.
This is also the day to follow the strategies you shortlisted on day 2. For each one, choose how picks reach you: in the app, by email (on by default) or on Telegram. You can mute any followed strategy without unfollowing it.
Then leave it alone. Your since-shared record starts at zero, exactly like every other strategy's did.
What one week actually proves
After seven days you know the workflow: reading a track record, building and backtesting a draft, activating it, following others. That is worth learning properly. What you do not have is proof of an edge. A few days of live picks is a tiny sample, and finding out whether a strategy really beats the market takes months and hundreds of bets. Plan for that timescale from day one and you will make calmer decisions than someone expecting a verdict in week one.
