OddsPortal Alternative: Pinnacle Historical Odds Left the Comparison Sites, Backtests Did Not

For years OddsPortal was where system bettors copied Pinnacle odds into spreadsheets. Since Pinnacle closed its public feed in July 2025, that column is gone. Bet2Invest holds the archive and runs the backtest for you: no copying, no scraping, no soft-book prices flattering your idea.

What OddsPortal is, and what changed

OddsPortal is the free odds comparison site everyone knows: fixtures with odds from dozens of bookmakers, dropping odds, surebet and value bet tools, and a results archive that keeps the pre-match odds of past seasons. For a decade it was the raw material of every homemade betting system: filter a league, copy the closing odds column into a spreadsheet, settle by hand, compute a yield.

The column that mattered was Pinnacle's. It was the sharpest price on the page and the only one a winning bettor could actually get down at size. Since Pinnacle closed its public feed on 23 July 2025, its odds no longer appear among the bookmakers listed on OddsPortal: what remains are recreational and crypto books, whose prices are precisely the ones that make a bad system look good. There is still no export and no API, and scraping the site is against its terms.

Bet2Invest is an official Pinnacle API partner and has been archiving Pinnacle opening and closing odds for years. The Pinnacle historical odds database sits behind a backtesting engine: instead of copying a column, you describe the system and get it settled on real closing prices in seconds.

Why a spreadsheet system built on comparison-site odds misleads

Three things go wrong at once. The prices are soft: a recreational bookmaker's 2.10 that was really a 1.95 at Pinnacle makes a losing angle look profitable, and you could never have bet it at size anyway. The prices are not closings: a pre-match odd copied at some unknown time is neither the opening nor the close, so line movement, the one signal that predicts profit, is invisible. And the settlement is yours: voids, postponements, Asian handicap pushes and duplicate rows quietly bend the yield. A backtest on the Pinnacle close, settled by an engine, removes all three.

When OddsPortal is still the right tool

Checking tonight's prices across bookmakers, watching odds drop before kick-off, looking up a past result: OddsPortal is free, fast and good at it. Keep using it for that. It was never built to be a backtesting database, and without Pinnacle it is a weaker one than it used to be.

What Bet2Invest replaces

1. The column you used to copy

Every matchup carries its Pinnacle opening and closing price and its settled result, across up to 10 years of football, soon 20, and 5 years each of basketball, tennis, American football, baseball, ice hockey, volleyball and esports. See the sports coverage for markets and depth.

2. The spreadsheet

Describe the system with 37 filters: a league, an odds range, a form condition, a league line movement band, a vig ceiling. The engine settles every simulated bet at the real closing price and returns bet count, yield, profit, maximum drawdown, streaks and the equity curve, plus the per-league and per-month breakdowns you used to build pivot tables for.

3. The next step

A system that holds can be followed live, with its picks delivered by email or Telegram and tracked against the Pinnacle close, or automated on your own Pinnacle account through the official API with Pinnacle Automation. Code users get the same through the public API and the Python client.

Moving a spreadsheet system to Bet2Invest

  1. List the columns you filtered on. League, odds band, form, day, month: each one is a filter in the builder.
  2. Run it on Pinnacle closings. If the yield survives the sharp price, the system is real; if it only existed at soft prices, you just saved a bankroll.
  3. Add what the spreadsheet never had. Line movement, liquidity and de-vigged probability are one click each.
  4. Start free. The Explorer plan gives you the builder and the database with a capped backtest window, no card required. Not sure where to start? Open a ready-made strategy for your sport.

Frequently asked questions

Does OddsPortal still show Pinnacle odds?

Pinnacle closed its public feed in July 2025 and no longer appears among the bookmakers listed on OddsPortal. The prices in its archive come from the recreational and crypto bookmakers it still lists.

Can I export historical odds from Bet2Invest?

Bet2Invest is a backtesting engine, not a bulk odds dump. You get settled backtest results, statistics, breakdowns and picks, in the app or through the public API and Python client on Sharp and Edge plans.

Why do backtests on Pinnacle closing odds matter?

The Pinnacle close is the sharpest public estimate of an outcome and the price a winning bettor can actually get. A system that shows a yield at that price survived the market; one that only works at soft prices found a discrepancy, not an edge.

How far back does the Bet2Invest history go?

Up to 10 years for football, with 20 years on the way, and 5 years for basketball, tennis, American football, baseball, ice hockey, volleyball and esports, with both the opening and the closing Pinnacle price on every matchup.

Is Bet2Invest free?

The Explorer plan is free and needs no card: the full builder and the odds database with a capped backtest window. Paid plans from €49.95/month extend the window to the full history and unlock the advanced market filters and automation.

Can I still use OddsPortal alongside Bet2Invest?

Yes, and many users do: OddsPortal for tonight's prices and dropping odds across bookmakers, Bet2Invest to know whether the situation in front of you has been profitable at sharp prices over the last ten seasons.
